概要: An introduction to British-English conversation, utilising subjects of interest to the individual.

詳細: British English tends to be less direct than, for example, American English. Accordingly, the Social course focuses on the more diplomatic, neutral ways in which we use conversational language, in areas such as making enquiries and requests, asking for and giving opinions etc. A certain amount of grammar-based teaching can be added if necessary.

詳細: Many textbooks make English grammar seem too complicated. Having learned Latin at school many years ago, I believe that there is still an essentially mathematical side to the structure of the English language, and, by dealing with the various parts of speech in turn, I aim to show you how logical it all can be.

受講条件: A basic knowledge of English structure and vocabulary as well as an interest in finance.
詳細: Using specialist financial vocabulary and idiom, the aim is to expand the individual's English and ability to apply language in this sphere. As this probably represents the comfort zone for both of us, there is an opportunity to extend beyond basics to the more detailed language of this field. Alternatively, it can serve as an introduction to anyone whose knowledge is more limited.

概要: The correction and enhancement of written English
受講条件: An intermediate or higher level of English; the ability to write coherently and express opinion in a logical way.
詳細: For the last two years I have been correcting written work for Japanese clients. This has taken the form of setting them an essay question concerning something of topical or personal interest, which I can then mark and suggest alternative structure and expressions. I can, of course, proofread other documents from a language perspective only.

先生に連絡を取り、確認させていただいた内容です。

(1) 現在の生徒数
現在、私が働いている語学学校でプライベートの生徒さん5人と、マンツーマンレッスンのビジネス英語の生徒さんが11人います。レッスンのために、生徒さんたちの個々の職場に行きます。

(2) 日本語でのメール問い合わせについて
私自身は日本語でメッセージを交換することはできませんが、妻が日本人なので日本語でのやりとりが可能です。

(3) 教材について（おすすめ教材など）
特に求められない限り、あまり教科書は使っていません。ビジネス英語の生徒さんとのレッスンでは、初級から上級レベルまでの「Market Leader」シリーズを使います。より一般的な英語の場合は、「Headway」を使っています。しかし、例などに生徒さん自身の生活環境などを用いることができるので、「Reality English」が好ましいです。

(4) レッスン場所について（おすすめのカフェなど）
JRや東京メトロ駅の中や近くにあるコーヒーショップならどこでもいいです。「Doutor」が最も安いようで、「Tullys」はそれより少し高いです。「Starbucks」はあまりにも混雑していて騒がしいので使っていません。

(5) レッスンについて（特に好んで教えているレッスンなど）
一般文法、ソーシャルイングリッシュ、ビジネス英語のレッスン。生徒さんの意見の表現、論理的な議論および読み聞かせがいいと思います。アピールポイントとしては、生徒さんが知らないような、新しい/改訂された言語や構造を教えることができることです。

(6) アピールポイント
生徒さんにとって私はきっととても親しみやすく、個々の状況やニーズに合わせることができるでしょう。私の多様な人生経験と、幅広い知識によって、生徒さんと何らかの共通点を見つけることができます。
